Tempered glass is heat-treated to be stronger and safer than regular glass. It’s designed to shatter into small, less harmful pieces in case of breakage.

Carbon steel is iron with a controlled amount of carbon: strong and rigid, which is why a steel frame can stay slim and still hold large panes of glass. Like any steel, it relies on its finish: the powder coat protects the frame, so keep the coating intact.

Swing doors come pre-hung in a steel frame, and the listed size includes the frame. For a single door, the rough opening is the door size plus 0.5 inch in width and height: a 36” x 96” door needs a 36.5” x 96.5” opening. For a double (French) door, add 1/4 inch to the width and 1/8 inch to the height. Arched and sliding doors are not always pre-hung; we confirm the frame on your drawing.

• Tape measure, level, and a notebook.

Steps:

• Measure the width at the top, middle, and bottom, and record the smallest measurement.
• Measure the height on the left and right sides, and record the smallest measurement.
• Use a level to check alignment and note any adjustments needed.

No wooden jamb is needed. The steel frame installs straight into the opening, or inside an existing wooden jamb if you want to keep it. For guidance, refer to our Measurement Guide.

• In-Stock Orders: Ship in 2–5 business days.
• Made-to-Order Doors: 14–16 weeks, arched and round top doors 16–18 weeks, counted from drawing approval. Expedited lead time is not available.

Orders are packed in secure wooden crates and shipped by LTL freight within the continental U.S., with shipping costs calculated during checkout. The carrier schedules the delivery appointment with you, and you will need help unloading: the crate is much heavier than the door. For Alaska and Hawaii, custom delivery estimates are provided.

We provide a 1-year warranty covering specific defects. Exceptions include improper handling, installation, and normal wear and tear. Read more in our Warranty Policy.

• Use non-abrasive glass cleaners for glass panels.
• Lubricate hinges and locks regularly, and check seals for wear.
