This finished basement in Pennsylvania borrows its light from the floor above. A single-swing 6 Lite Interior Steel French Door stands at the basement entry, and its clear tempered glass lets daylight pass into the stairwell instead of stopping at the door. The matte black frame holds six equal panes in a symmetrical grid — a clean focal point against the light paneled walls and wood flooring.

Andy chose the handle with a lock, so the basement can be closed off when needed without giving up the slim, minimal look. The door is powder-coated carbon steel with a 1.57 in (40 mm) frame and arrives pre-hung in that frame — the listed size includes it. Andy installed it himself as a DIY project; his review is below.
